We are privileged to operate in such a beautiful, wild landscape. To keep it that way, we operate on a "Pack It In, Pack It Out" basis.
• Rubbish: We kindly ask that you take all waste and recycling with you when you leave.
• Wildlife: Please store all food inside the provided containers to avoid attracting curious forest neighbours!

Our Commitment: "Leave No Trace" at Fonclaire
At Fonclaire Holidays, we are privileged to be surrounded by the beautiful, unspoiled nature of the Haute-Vienne. To ensure this landscape remains pristine for years to come, we follow a "Leave No Trace" philosophy.
We invite you to be the guardians of this land during your stay with us.
1. The Golden Rule: Pack It In, Pack It Out
To maintain the peace and natural beauty of the site, we do not have a centralized waste collection point on the grounds.
Zero Waste: We kindly ask that everything you bring to your gite or tent leaves with you, or you use our pay-as-you-throw service.
Collection Points: Local bins for general waste and recycling are located nearby at Mortemart and Bellac, see maps on following pages.
Cigarette Butts: Please do not discard butts in the grass or woods. They are toxic to the soil and pose a major fire risk during the dry summer months.
2. Respect Wildlife & Plants
Food Storage: To avoid attracting curious forest neighbours (like field mice or deer), please keep all food stored in airtight containers.
Flora: Enjoy the wildflowers with your eyes or your camera, but please leave them for others to enjoy—do not pick them.
Fire Safety: For the safety of the woodland and our guests, open campfires are strictly prohibited. Please only use designated BBQ areas if provided.
3. Peace & Serenity
The best sound at Fonclaire is the sound of nature.
Noise: Please be considerate of other guests and our neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum, especially after 10:00 PM.
Water Usage: Water is a precious resource in the countryside; please use it mindfully.
4. Before You Depart...
A quick final check is all it takes. If your tent pitch or gite looks exactly as it did when you arrived, you have successfully completed your "Leave No Trace" mission!

Pay-As-you-Throw Waste Service
Important Information for All Guests
To help protect our beautiful countryside and reduce environmental impact, the local waste authority now operates a pay-as-you-throw waste collection system. This means charges apply for the disposal of general waste.
General Waste
Guests have two options for disposing of general rubbish:
Take your general waste away with you, or
Ask us to dispose of it on your behalf for €5 per 30-litre rubbish sack.
Recycling
♻️ Recycling is FREE!
Recycling facilities are available on-site for paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and metal. We kindly ask all guests to recycle as much as possible to help reduce waste disposal costs and protect our environment.
Food Waste
Please do not dispose of food waste in the recycling bins.
As we are unable to operate a composting facility, any food waste should either:
Be taken away with you, or
Be placed in your general waste sack if you are using our paid disposal service.
